Review of 2011 and Goals for 2012

A Happy New Year to all!

Thank you for supporting the Six Minute Strategist Community in 2011 and I look forward to sharing great content with you in 2012.

In this post I would like to share with you the progress I have made with The Six Minute Strategist Blog over the last 12 months and some of my goals for 2012.

I started this blog in October 2010 and I admit have spent a fair amount of time learning how best to provide interesting and valuable content – I hope I am doing well.  Please let me know.

In the month of January 2011 I had 97 unique visitors to the site (thats 3 a day) and 207 page views.  In December that was up to 372 and 772 page views.  Now I know that this is not going to keep Seth Godin awake at night but I also understand that building a community takes time and commitment.  In total in 2011 2469 unique visitors have come to the site and there have been 7,132 unique page views.  Thank you to all of you.

Last year I spoke at three events including a Microsoft Conference in Reading.  I found the events really stimulating and enjoyed meeting a wide range of technology professionals and students at the London School of Accounting and Management.

My target for 2012 is therefore to get 1,000 unique visitors a month and 20,000 page views.  How am I going to do this?  Let me set out some of my Blog targets for 2012.

eBooks

I am working on bringing some of my content and some new content to you in the form of easy to download and read ebooks.  Most of these will be free although I do intend to create some really valuable content to make your Enterpreneur’s life easier and for these I will ask a modest contribution.  I also intend to put these out on Amazon and other platforms to widen my reach to potential new readers. I have a really exciting project under development which I hope to bring to you in the next month or two.

Video

I have been teaching myself how to create videos to provide helpful information and teaching aids and these I will publish on YouTube as well as embedding them in my website.  I hope this will make the site easier to find as well as broadening the content for my readership.

Podcast

I am delighted with the reception I have had to my Six Minute Strategist Podcast on iTunes.  I have posted 15 episodes to date and will continue to produce them.  They are a combination of some of my longer blogs as well as unique content.  I have a exciting interview which I did before Christmas with a special guest and that will be coming out in the next week.  Please visit the Podcast on iTunes and if you like it leave me a rating and a comment.

Blog Posts

I will continue to write informative blog posts on the subjects of Business, Technology and New Media.  Aimed squarely at the Entrepreneur.  Covering everything from the Start Up through to exit and not pulling punches, I hope to be able to share my experience with you.  I am currently drafting a couple of posts on Bank lending, why it is not working and how you can find alternatives.

Guest Blogging

I did my first Guest Blog post in December for the DueDil.com blog which you can find here.  I look forward to being asked to do more of these in 2012.

Keynote Speaking

I am looking forward to doing more keynotes and conferences in 2012.  If you are looking for an experienced speaker who can contribute to your conference, give me a call.

Consulting

I spend a considerable amount of my time providing consultancy to companies, particular ly but not exclusively in the Technology Sector.  I will be launching a new service to enable you to buy an hour of my time and get some great information and advice to help your business address a current problem or issue.  This is intended to help me to help you and over come the limitations of travel and geography.  Watch out for this coming soon.

What else would you like me to cover?

I would love to hear from you with topics which you would like me to cover – subjects and issues that are causing you problems.  Please email me at jbdcolley[at]aol[dot]com or leave a comment.  I read everyone and comment back (spammers excluded).
